Command View 8.0

Hi

I am looking for some feedback on Command View upgrade from 7 to 8.

Has anyone done it yet? Any comments?

Thanks

Re: Command View 8.0

CV-EVA now comes with a new installer. You can't do an upgrade - you have to uninstall any old version manually and do a new V8 installation.

Re: Command View 8.0

I know I need to read to full doc but have you experienced any problem with doing the upgrade?

Re: Command View 8.0

IMHO it is the same as any previous "upgrade": uninstall the old and install the new version. No problems so far.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Command View 8.0

Hi,

As above, you MUST deinstall any previous version of CV and then install V8. No need to worry about your hp admins xx accounts as they will remain.

No problems so far apart from sometimes it draws an EVA4400 shelf for an EVA3/4/5/6/8k shelf !! when looking at the shelf properties page but I am currently using a beta version of code.

Re: Command View 8.0

Hi,

a question about licenses.

Are the same as with CV 7.0 ?

or we have to do a new HP request to obtain them fot CV V8 ?

Re: Command View 8.0

Jean-Pierre, afaik you don't need to buy a new license if you have already bought in for previous version.

Re: Command View 8.0

OK,

this means CV V7 licenses apply to CV V8.

Thank you

Re: Command View 8.0

Just did this last week. You've probably already upgraded, but in case other customers are searching the forum's for information I thought I'd add some comments.

After CV 7 uninstall reboot and check the following before CV 8 installation:

\\Common Files\\InstallShield\\Universal.
1. Delete the VPD (Vital Product Data) if present:
a)HP_MasterInstaller70
b)HP_MasterInstaller701
c)HP_MasterInstaller6XX

2. Have a look at the content of the file
".....\Program Files\Zero G Registry\.com.zerog.registry.xml". The "Zero G Registry" directory is likely hidden.

If it contains the product tree named "HP StorageWorks Command View EVA Software Suite" you need to remove it.
It starts with "and then ends for this product at the nearest "
" string.
