Command View EVA: Can I rename Diskgroups or Folders?

And will this impact the connected VDISKS if done online?

Thanks!

Re: Command View EVA: Can I rename Diskgroups or Folders?

Nelson,

You can change this online.

It is the WWN that is important

Hi Nelson,
you can rename the disgroup folder, it is just a name for identification of diskgroup.
Luns are accessed wide wwwn only.

Re: Command View EVA: Can I rename Diskgroups or Folders?

You can easily rename objects. You can even move objects within the folder structure without impact to the host mapping. Internally, the EVA uses the UUID (Universal Unique IDentifier, which does not change for the life time of an object) while the name and folder structure are just a convenience for the end-user.

Don't forget to run a SSSU "CAPTURE CONFIGURATION" after the change and remember that name changes or object movements can cause scripts to fail.

Re: Command View EVA: Can I rename Diskgroups or Folders?

Thanks UWE and all,

We're just actually getting to use SSSU and I am in the process of developing scripts so our growing EVAs have now a common front-end with our CLI operations on the XP12000...

And the reason I want ot rename is for consistency and also to remove spaces on some of the Diskgroup names (which I am sure is not really a big deal, right?).

Re: Command View EVA: Can I rename Diskgroups or Folders?

Well, I think that consistency is a great thing that warants some more works because it pays off in the long run.

Removing spaces from names...
This might ease some scripts, but there are some system-define folders ("Virtual Disks", "Disk Groups", "Data Replication", ...) that have a space in them, but don't seem to allow a rename.
