configuring 2 diffirent server on MSA 1000
Dear Friends...
i've never worked on this before so i need your advice
i have HP LH6000 server
2) Compaq ML580
3)MSA1000 with 3 port HUB
4)2X HBA 120186-B21
simple soluation connecting both servers to MSA1000 via HBA ,,, right ?
the soluation i've been asked to do is semi clustering ACTIVE/PASSIVE with oracle 9i
with DB on the MSA1000 and oracle engine on both servers once system is down the other one with act as a primary node
can i do this or not ??
as i said this is my first time doing like this soluation
i've checked with MSA1000 compatabilityfor HBAs they'r mentining another type of HBA FCA-2101 P/N:245299-b21
so plz advice
thanx

Re: configuring 2 diffirent server on MSA 1000
The HBA you mention is an older one, and I don't think it is supported on the MSA1000 (I think it was for the RA4100). But there should still be drivers available for it.
The other thing is having two different servers in the cluster - although there is nothing specific technically that would prevent it from working, this is not an hp-test or supported configuration.
I would try to upgrade to the FCA2101 if you can. Otherwise, you can try it using the old HBAs, and if they can communicate with the MSA1000, it will "probably" work. Just keep in mind that you are on your own for support.
Good luck,
Doug
