Continous Access all White
hello everyone,
My environment:
2 EVA5000 - 2C6D with CA; 1 primary site and 1 for hot site..right now they are in same room for testing.
4 Storage Management Appliances..2 each site
8 Win2003 Server (8 node stretch cluster..4 each site)
I have the two EVA5000's installed and replicating with CA. I can use all four SMA's to manage EVA's (1 at a time of course). All my data is flowing great. I installed a boot from SAN computer and can boot from SiteA or SiteB EVA just fine depending which one is 'live' disk group.
I have a few issues with CA though.
I sometimes from my desktop machine enter the IP address or Computer name of a SMA. I log in, select Continuous Access (CA) and during the load of JAVA applet it says can't connect to Server in a Java dialog. I click OK and a few seconds later same dialog box appears. I have it almost pinpointed to something with the name I use in the browser window. I went to the EVA training class at an HP site and saw this error during a lab and the instructor fixed it quickly. I however didnt pay attention to what he did.. I wish I did now !
Second and most important. I wanted to test a hard fail over scenerio. All my prepared fial overs worked great. I could use CA user interface to failover from one EVA to the other in just seconds. I was thrilled.
I went behind the primary EVA rack and turned power off. I waited about 10 minutes and powered back on. Everything is working great from Command View EVA all my disk are still replicating. However, when I use CA my CA screen comes up all white on all four of my SMA's. I see all my configuration but they are white instead of green. I tried selecting REFRESH->discover, rescan. It says cant connect to SITEA,SITEB (my EVA names..original I know.) sometimes or jsut does a rescan and still stays white.
I am very lost here now... I have rebooted everything... nothing. Please help ...
Thanks everyone !

Re: Continous Access all White
I have found one answer in at: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/UCR/SupportManual/TPM_t3031-98402/TPM_t3031-98402.pdf
CV-EVA Operations Guide V1.1A Release notes.
Page 5 of this manual had my exact error. Now on to figuring out why it is all white still.

Re: Continous Access all White
OK..RTFM really does work.....
I uninstalled CA from a SMA and rebooted. I then used COmmand View to ensure that my current apliance was owner of EVA's.
I reinstalled CA and open UI from client browser and did a rescan. All items turned green. whew !
