Could not find /etc/lvmpvg file
Need your help.
When I config Backup System 11i HP_UX OS for backup Business Copy LUN on VA7100, I could not find /etc/lvmpvg file. Do I have to create new /etc/lvmpvg file ? How to consistence Parent LUN with BC LUN ?
Thanks

Re: Could not find /etc/lvmpvg file
Hi,
either you have to create the /etc/lvmpvg when create a new VG, so have a look for the man-page "vgcreate", or you have to edit one.
But under normal circumstances the file is'not really nessecary.

Re: Could not find /etc/lvmpvg file
Usually /etc/lvmpvg file is not present until you create one . Its basically a physical volume group inforamation file and it is in ASCII format .
If its not there and you want to use it , you have to create one . The entries are usuallu VG names followed by all the PVG's in that VG and then for every PVG the PV's in that PVG .
Basically you can edit this file to create PVG's instead of using vgcreate .
Normally even for service guard its not required but if you want to have consistence parent LUN and BC LUN pairing , you can create one .
Do a man lvmpvg , and you will ge ttons of info.

Re: Could not find /etc/lvmpvg file
if you have defined PVG try to run
#vgscan
if updates LVM files reading LVM structures
