Craiq: Regardsing that JNI FCA and Solaris + EVA-5000
Hi,
Thankx for the previous reply but i think i did't have complete information then:
I have Sun Fire 6800 with the following 2 FCA's:
375-3102
QLogic QLA2310F-SUN
3.3/5V 32/64Bit 33/66MHz
Details are at: http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Devices/Fibre_Channel/FIBRE_Single_2GB_FC_AL.html
Now i installed StorageWorks 3B (it installed CPQhsv pkg). Since the driver was installed but not configured i issued the command:
#cfgadm -c configure c4
Now i can see 4 paths to my storage with format command.
Then i installed Secure Path 3C and issued:
/opt/CPQswsp/bin/spconfig -o
output:
-------
File /var/adm/spconfig.ThuSep09-11:31:44.log is a verbose listing of the Secure Path installation
Indicator Key:
. Inquiry
+ Show This CLI command
- Show Other CLI command
~ Show Connections CLI command
, Show Units CLI command
* Adding Extra entries
Error: 0 No useable arrays found, please check your configuration
Although i have temporarily mounted the storage on the first path i can see from
format command, but this is not a permanent solution since there is no secure path and no failover.
One more thing /kernel/drv folder shows qlc.conf and qlc driver not qla2300 !
Can you please help in this one ?
I have also attached the card details

Re: Craiq: Regardsing that JNI FCA and Solaris + EVA-5000
Hi Zeeshan,
Can you include the output from 'format', /kernel/drv/sd.conf, /kernel/drv/hsx.conf, /kernel/drv/qla*.conf, and /kerrnel/drv/swsp.conf? Also can you provide the 'pkginfo' for the Qlogic HBA?
Thanks,
Craig

Re: Craiq: Regardsing that JNI FCA and Solaris + EVA-5000
Hi,
I will get that info tomorrow. Me not currently at data center. By the way there is no /kernel/drv/qla* ... there is only
/kernel/drv/qlc
This qlc driver is the offspring of
solaris 8 patch 108984-08.
My theory is that since that since this qlc driver patch exists, HP Storage Works kit 3B does not install CPQfcraid package and because this package is not installed and there is no /kernel/drv/qla*, secure path is not working.
Since you have had experiance in SAN envronment specifically HP, please comment on the above paragraph.
Also tell me if this secure path is dependent on CPQfcraid package.
Thx again for your help.

Re: Craiq: Regardsing that JNI FCA and Solaris + EVA-5000
Hi Zeeshan,
The CPQfcraid package is not required by SecurePath. In fact, if you wanted to connect an EVA to a Solaris system without SecurePath, you had to install the EMA platform kit - to get the CPQfcraid package - and then the EVA platform kit.
One thing to note - the Sun Qlogic HBA is really not the recommended model for use with StorageWorks. I took a look at the QLA2310F and it does use the same driver that is included in the EVA plaftorm kit. Here is what I would try:
1) Remove the QLC driver.
2) Install the EVA platform kit - if you have SecurePath 3.0D, the platform kit is included, if not, download from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?locale=en_US〈=English+%28US%29&pnameOID=326994&prodSeriesId=326992&prodTypeId=12169&basePartNum=COL4484&locBasepartNum=co-15411-1&os=Solaris+8&tech=Driver++Storage+Controller
3) Install SP3.0B and then upgrade to SP 3.0C
4) Run spconfig
