\Device\Scsi\lpxnds1

The device, \Device\Scsi\lpxnds1, did not respond within the timeout period.

Has anyone seend this before on a Win2k box (LP952) conecting to EVA5000 thro' Brocade 12k.

It appears to be interfering with the Backup job in NetBackup(5.0MP3), and preventing the backup running.

Andy,

Mostly it has nothing to do with the lp adapter more than it's just reporting the error. Often it's an timeout or reachability error on a specific LUN.
If you want to know more take al look at the scsiport driver which microsofty has an article of

Re: \Device\Scsi\lpxnds1

HI,
Is there a fix for this event or any settings than can be tweaked to avoid this errors. I have seen few of these event ids on lpxnds1 and event id 9 as mentioned in the Microsoft page but still not sure what could cause this(I know its due to I/O timeout but not sure what could be the problem that needs to be fixed?..high utilization on server causing timeout or faulty card or something else?

thanks

I have the same problem with NetBackup(5.0MP3), looks like there is a problem with Emulex Light Pulse PCI Fibre Channel HBA driver's. I'll try to install the last platform kit and I'll will keep you in touch with the result.

In fact, there is a problem with Insigh Manager, try to upgrade it :

For me it's ok for the last 24 hours.

Re: \Device\Scsi\lpxnds1

Finally the problem was with the NetBackup Tape drive driver from Veritas. Uninstall the driver, uninstall the software NetBackupTapeDeviceDriverInstall_??????.exe and reinstall the latest NetBackupTapeDeviceDriverInstall_??????.exe.

It fixed the problem for us.

Also, you may want to apply the drivers using Plug and Play box checked... takes it to version 5.1.1.1

Well I have Dataprotector and i see these errors only on 2 servers among hundreds. Did you notice the errors after you upgraded the insight agents?
