Disk sizes in HSG80 based SAN

Can someone advise me what the max disk size I can use on V86F-1 and V87F-1 firmware on a HSG80 based SAN? We are looking to replace a stripe with 360GB disks is possible.

Thanks

Re: Disk sizes in HSG80 based SAN

I do not think the 300GB+ drives were qualified on the HSG80, mainly because it is EOL'ed.

Would the work? Probably, but you probably will NOT get full support from HP.

I remember seeing another post about this. Not sure of the outcome.

is the post i was referring to.

So the max supported drive would be the 146GB 15K drive if HP did not qualify the 300.

Would the 146GB disks work with V86f-1 or do they require later firmware?

Thanks

Re: Disk sizes in HSG80 based SAN

That I am unsure of. I think it does require the later firmware, but perhaps not all the way to 8.7.

You might be able to just run some patches and get up to 8.6-13 and be ok.

Re: Disk sizes in HSG80 based SAN

Has anybody tried 146GB disk on HSG80 with V86S-12 firmware? I want to replace all 18, 36 and 72GB disks with 146 GB. I just want to make sure before going for 146GB.

Re: Disk sizes in HSG80 based SAN

Why not just include ACS 8.8 in your upgrade plan? That way you'd be sure...

Re: Disk sizes in HSG80 based SAN

I knew 8.7 or higher firmware supports 146GB disks. Because of time and budget constraints I cannot go for 8.8 now.

Anyway I found out that 8.6-12 is the minimum version required for the 146GB disk support.

Thanks
