DL380 and MSA1000 change SCSI Disks
This is the situation today.
DL380
2 x 73Gb SCSI Hot-Swap
MSA1000
6 x 72Gb SCSI Hot-Swap
(Logical A (D:\, 3 in RAID-5), Logical B (E:\, 3 in RAID-5)
3 x 300Gb SCSI Hot-Swap (W:\, Logical C - RAID-5)
Now I'll put a new 3 x 300Gb SCSI Hot-Swap, but this disks will be a replacement for the Logical A.
But I have a big problem, Logical A have a lot of shares and permissions, so I don't make a copy of data.
So I think in create a RAID-51 (logical A and Logical C) and after the mirror is OK, I put the logical A failed and done.
But I discover the MSA1000 not made a RAID51, just RAID 0,1 and 5.
My solution, add the new volume in Windows and made a Mirror (in Windows), wait the synchronization, failed logical A and done.
One more disappointment… Windows cannot convert the disk D:\ in a Dynamic-disk, and none other MSA disks, just the local disks in the DL380.
I need a solution for this… I think use ntbackup, made a backup for other volume, made a restore to new disks… But I don’t like this solution, and I need some help or ideas.
Thanks a lot, best regards.

Re: DL380 and MSA1000 change SCSI Disks
You could remove hotswap one of you drives in Array A with one of the 300GB. Wait for rebuilds to complete and then do the second drive. so forth.

Re: DL380 and MSA1000 change SCSI Disks
I can't do it... Think about...
If I change the 72Gb disk for the 300gb, this disk is assign to RAID and the capacity will reduce to 72Gb to, because the RAID-5 have 3 disk's of 72Gb and is impossible the 300gb disk be part of RAID-5 (2x72Gb+1x300Gb) but, for this work, the 300Gb have a reduce to the minor capacity disk, in this case, 72Gb.

Re: DL380 and MSA1000 change SCSI Disks
If you need the extra capacity for Array A, you can substitute a larger drive and any RAID configuration. The only caveat is, the space isn't available until all 72GB drives are replaced with 300GB. You must do only one disk at a time and wait for the rebuild to finish before swapping a second drive.

Re: DL380 and MSA1000 change SCSI Disks
Thank you so much!!!!
In this morning I have tested your solution...
And.... Works Perfectly!!!
After all rebuilds, click in Logical Drive and appear to us the option â Extend Capacityâ and voila!!
Thank you!
Best Regards
