Emulex LP8000 on an ML370 G4?
Hi,
I hate to waste anyone's valuable time, but I've searched all over Emulex and HP's sites without being able to make my RA4100 accessible. On Windows server 2003 SP2 I'm using the driver Emulex recommend (Storport miniport driver (v1.30a9)), I've run the Microsoft hotfix, but when I open HP's Array Configuration Utility and click on the Emulex HBA I get an error, "The current array controller cannot be configured by this program. The controller did not respond correctly to configuration commands".
It's in a small lab, I'm not trying to boot from it, I just want to be able to access the storage.
Any ideas you can offer towards a solution will be very much appreciated.
Thanks for giving this your attention,
Richard

Re: Emulex LP8000 on an ML370 G4?
I've looked at an RA4100 quite some time ago. From what I have seen, it has a rather strange LUN mapping that goes outside the usual 0..255 range. You might have more luck with Emulex's own FC Port driver, if it is available for W2003SP2.

The RA4100 is a Arbitrated Loop device, so I believe you need a AL FC HBA part#120-186-B21. COMPAQ ANNOUNCES THE 64BIT/66MHZ FIBER CHANNEL HOST ADAPTER, A HOST ADAPTER BASED ON THE FIBER CHANNEL PROTOCOL THAT PROVIDES THE INTERFACE FOR A COMPAQ SERVER TO INTERACT WITH A FIBER CHANNEL ARBITRATED LOOP. IT IS A KEY COMPONENT FOR BUILDING A FIBER CHANNEL STORAGE SOLUTION WITH THE RAID ARRAY 4100.
