Re: Error Alert

Hi, that is indicating the failure of a SATA or SAS disk on that server.

It is on a controller on Slot 1, port 1 internal, bay 8.

Re: Error Alert

but in storage side I cant see any failures?
Will it be in problem with server?

Re: Error Alert

Since the server has Windows, use ACU to check the status of the controllers and disks, or enter System Management Homepage.
Or run an ADU report and attach it here.

All these utilities are installed by default by the HP Proliant Support Pack.

Re: Error Alert

Had some trouble downloading the file from the forum.
Now that I have the ADUReport.xml, I only see information about a Smart Array 5i in slot 0, with 2 x 72GB U320 10K disks.

Are yu sure this ADU was ran on the correct server?

Re: Error Alert

This one is the correct:

SLOT 1 Smart Array P400 Controller
Error occurred reading RIS copy from Port 1I, Box 1, Bay 8

Can't see the model of this disk but other disks on this server are:

DG036A8B53 = 376596-001 = Hot-Plug 36GB 10K rpm, SFF 2.5" Single-Port SAS hard drive

Re: Error Alert

I see

SLOT SUMMARY:
Slot Num Slot Type Array Controllers and Host Adapters Detected
-------- --------- --------------------------------------------
SLOT 1 PCI-E Smart Array P400 Controller
SLOT 4 PCI PCI Based Fibre Channel Adapter
SLOT 5 PCI PCI Based Fibre Channel Adapter

SLOT 1 Smart Array P400 Controller ERROR REPORT:

Error occurred reading RIS copy from Port 1I, Box 1, Bay 8

Is anything I need to do from storage end to troubleshoot this

Re: Error Alert

Of course, replace disk 8 on that server.
As you can see it's connected to the SmartArray P400 controller.

The disk is failed, and we cannot see model, but it's probably a 36 GB like the others. Call someone that can verify that directly on the server.

Re: Error Alert

ok, My doubt is on EVA I cannot see any disk failures. how you found the disk 8 is failed on it, and I beleive any disk failures will show on storage.
If this is not whether its a early warning for us.

Re: Error Alert

This is not on a EVA. The disk is SAS and it's connected to a Smart Array P400 on the server.

Dou you know what's the model of the server?
With a P400 and 8 SAS bays, could be a DL380 G5 or a ML370 G5 for example.

Re: Error Alert

Thanks a lot. I have passed the issue to platform team. I was much wondering it was an storage issue. Let me wait and see if they come back to me.

I Appreciate your quick and correct guideness in this issue.
