EVA Preferred Path/Mode

Hi,

I have an EVA 6400 with multiple LUNs presented to a production ESX4 cluster. My question is this. If I change the preferred path/mode setting on the Vdisks from the default no preference to Failover/Failback will there be any interruption in I/O? i.e. will anyone important notice?

Cheers

Re: EVA Preferred Path/Mode

None at all... or at least there should not be.

Since the disk(s) are accessible across all 4 paths... there should not be any interruption at all.

Re: EVA Preferred Path/Mode

no, it is safe....
and check HP EVA ESX 4x configuration guide for best result - set multipath to RR with IO count=1...

Re: EVA Preferred Path/Mode

Ok so this is weird. If I change the setting on any LUN they all change to match it i.e. I can't set each LUN individually.

Any ideas?

Ah, this was because CA is running. Mystery over.
