EVA3000, EMC CX500, HDS 9570V

We are considering the following arrays for our next purchase.

EVA3000, EMC CX500, HDS9570V

This will be in a hpux/oracle environment.

If you have prior experience with these systems, your opinion, comments and/or advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: EVA3000, EMC CX500, HDS 9570V

Hello Stephen,

what are the capacity requirements? scalability? bandwith / iops required? security? Managebility?

the 9570 is a very nice product which is upgradable to a 9585. The entry model is a 9520.

9585 has also 8 host ports

I've no experience with the EMC
Looking for nice incentives? (www.kirsp.nl)

Re: EVA3000, EMC CX500, HDS 9570V

Fabian,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my message.

We are currently looking to add about 6TB and would like to be able to scale to 12-18TB in the next 3years.

We currently have a VA7400 and SAN performance is not an issue at this point. Any of the system mentioned would suffice. Ofcourse, we want the best performing equipment for the least cost. Heh... ;^> From what I've been reading, real world performance for CX500 and HDS 9570V should be comparable with HP EVA3000 trailing behind.

We are planning to keep the VA7400 for now to use on our test system, so ability to replicate data to VA7400 is a plus. But, then again, this is not a required feature because, we may not keep the VA for long depending on maintenance cost.

What I'm really interested in is how well these three arrays work in HP-UX / Oracle environment. I would like to hear other people's experience with these systems; reliability of the equipment, quality of technical support, ease of management, performance, etc...

Any advise or comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve
