EVA4000 cache battery replacement issues
Hi,guys!
I need you help.
Recently, our storage EVA4000 has cache battery problem in controller A.The xcs
version is v5.031.Yesterday i replace the
battery online, but the new battery didn't
been detected by the controller, the Fault indicator still on,and in command view, the
battery status was Not installed.
Today,i replace the cache battery follow the
USR http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00365724,
but the newer battery Fault indicator still on,and battery status is Unknown in command view.
I have replaced four new batteries, but none is successful.
Could you give me some advice?
Many thanks!

Re: EVA4000 cache battery replacement issues
Did you follow the instructions and shutdown the controller to replace it's battery?
Firmware 5.031 is way too old and reports false alarms, I would suggest you to update firmware and see what it says about the battery then.
There's also the possibility that battery acid leakage has damaged the controller contacts. This is more frequent on EVA3000/5000 but if you still have the first battery you removed, check it's contacts.

Re: EVA4000 cache battery replacement issues
Hi vcespon,thanks for you reply.
Yes,i first shutdown the controller ,then remove the power cable, replace the bad battery ,wait for two minutes then power on
the controller.
I have replaced two new batteries, but still
failed.
I have no idea.

Re: EVA4000 cache battery replacement issues
Then it's very likely that you may end having to replace the controller.
