EVA44400 error when grouping new disk
I have an EVA4400 which had 4 disk failures over 2 weeks which left the disk group in a degraded state. I managed to replace and group 2 disks but the disk group is still busy levelling and it is stuck at 0%.
The EVA has only one disk group configured.
The disk group protection level was set to single but I changed it to none to make space available. The disk group is in a degraded state and the following error message appears when I click on the disk group:
тАЬA hardware failure has occurred in this disk group. The advanced virtualization features of your system have prevented any data from being lost, but the level of protection in the disk group is degraded. Please repair the hardware failure as soon as possible to restore maximum hardware failure protection to your system.
If you have already repaired this disk group, the system is in the process of redistributing data across the groupтАЩs disk drives. Redistribution may take some time, depending on the size of the group and its drives. This message will continue to appear until that action is complete.тАЭ
The data is still accessible by the hosts.
I receive the following error when I try to regroup 2 ungrouped disks:
Operation failed: Description not available
I cannot create new vdisks as there is not enough free space on the array.
Can you urgently assist me as I cannot group new disks and the error message is not helping much.

Re: EVA44400 error when grouping new disk
If the matter is that urgent, you should open Support Call immediately.
How long has it been since you re-grouped the first disk?
From the looks of it, you have 70 450GB Disks?

Re: EVA44400 error when grouping new disk
Hi
the message you are getting is standard when a disk fails and the EVA is rebuilding it's parity the important thing is that data is accessible from all hosts you should be able to add new disks try restarting Command View or the Command View server and you can only wait since you have no support because HP can analyze logs and maybe help. Try adding the new disks one by one.
Regards.
