EVA5000 - Vdisk Folder showing warning, but Vdisks OK
a customer of ours has an error in Command View EVA. For an EVA5000, one of the 3 Vdisk Folders has a yellow exclamation mark. However, none of the 12 Vdisks in this folder shows any error. The folder itself does not display any specific error message. Clicking through the Vdisks in this folder to check each one indivudually does not show any errors, but while doing this, sometimes the exclamation mark for the folder disappears. It might stay away for an hour or up to a week, but it always comes back.
We've tried switching management to a 2nd appliance, same problem. SSSU output does not show any errors with any Vdisks, Disk Groups or Hardware. It says the Storage System itself has an operational state of "Initialized - Warning", but all Vdisks have an Operational State of 1 (which I assume means OK)
Config of this EVA5000:
8 Disk Shelves, 40x 146GB Disks, VCS 3.010.
Command View EVA 3.1
At the moment only Solaris (FSC-PrimePower) hosts are accessing this EVA.
I've contacted HP Support, but they have not managed to solve this yet.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Re: EVA5000 - Vdisk Folder showing warning, but Vdisks OK
it could be a display problem with Internet Explorer (IE). I have been working with the EVA since version 1 and from time to time I see things that do not reflect reality or the display is lagging behind. I then click on some other objects and after some clicks the display becomes finally correct - even with CV-EVA V3.1.
In the past I sometimes had to close IE, sometimes I even had to restart the CV-EVA agent on the SMA.
If I recall correctly the SSSU was always right when I compared it against the GUI, but I admit that I did not always double-check.

Re: EVA5000 - Vdisk Folder showing warning, but Vdisks OK
1) Sometimes it just gets wierded out after errors. I had a situation a while back where one my controllers was wigging out, fixed it, the controller went green, but an exlamation remained on the EVA, even though no disks/controllers were bad.
2) I've seen the Exclamation mark on an EVA that had no problems OTHER THAN the occupancy was over the 95% threshhold set for the EVA.
I would check your remaining disk space and ensure it's more than the 5% (I think this is default?) it likes. Incidentally, I'm suspecting that this 95% threshhold is also the cause of #1, due to the loss of communication with a controller (and its disks).

Re: EVA5000 - Vdisk Folder showing warning, but Vdisks OK
Just as a comment 95% may be the default for warning on occupation level, but all the training and HP recommend it is actually set at 80%.
This gives the EVA a 20% headroom to do its management.

Re: EVA5000 - Vdisk Folder showing warning, but Vdisks OK
I'll have to investigate any possible browser issues. I thought it might have something to do with the appliance, so I found it strange that when I took over management with the 2nd appliance the error was still there.
The Disk Group has less than 50% occupancy, and even if it was exceeding an alarm level, then the Disk Group itself would have a warning, which is not the case on this EVA. There are 3 other EVAs in the SAN and they do not show any errors.
