FC JBOD and HP Storage 4/16 San Switch
Hi All,
I have a FC JBOD with 5 disks, HP Storage 4/16 San Switch and 2 Bl20pg3 servers with Qlogic mezzanine cards. Servers are connected to the switch through Patch Panel 2 through FC cables.
Now i wanted to present first two disks of JBOD to 1st servers and remaining 3 disks to second servers. Is there any possiblity with which i can achieve this ?
I am new to this and really appriciate your help.
Thanks.

Re: FC JBOD and HP Storage 4/16 San Switch
Hi,
Can you explain exactly what you mean by "FC JBOD". Is there a storage system involved, or have you just connected a fibre disk shelf up to the SAN switch...?
If the latter, I don't believe this will work...
Cheers,
Rob

Re: FC JBOD and HP Storage 4/16 San Switch
I have only seen this type of JBOD during a class so I am not 100% sure of this.
The disks themselves will not have WWNs recognizable to the switch so I you would need to zone the 2 servers to the FC port of the JBOD controller. Then hopefully the JBOD has some kind of software to manage the disks. Then with the management piece you would just assign the first two to one server and the other three to the other one. The assigning of disks will need to be done from each server individually.
If there is no type of management software then I would agree with Rob's second statement.
