Fibre Channel error
I have gotten the following error on both of my fibre channel cards in a DL380 server. this started after a power outtage. I reseated both the cards and the riser board, but the errors persist. I thought it strange that BOTH cards would start getting the message. Could it be the system board?
Note the controller in slot 1 is also getting the error.
thanks,
Randall Sykes

Fibre Channel Controller Status Change. The Fibre Channel Controller in slot 2 has a new status of 6.
(Host controller status values: 1=other, 2=ok, 3=failed, 4=shutdown, 5=connectionDegraded, 6=connectionFailed)
[SNMP TRAP: 16021 in CPQFCA.MIB]

Re: Fibre Channel error
Does your host actually see the storage or not? Are these HBAs connected to one or two SAN switches (or directly to your storage)?
If both HBAs connect to the same switch I would say there is something wrong with the switch.
Rgds.

Re: Fibre Channel error
These are two boards that are internal to the server with no external fiber connections. I would assume that they function through the system board bus. All local drives are mounted and available.

Re: Fibre Channel error
I would guess they do not do anything at the moment, as FC HBAs are meant for connecting a server to an external storage.
So probably they report the plain fact they are not connected to anything.
I am not sure whether it is possible to disbale them via BIOS, but you may try this. Or maybe just remove them from the server?
