GBIC Failures on a FC10 Array (Product ID A5236A)
Hi,
We have a HPUX server connected to a FC10 Disk array, product id A5236A. 2 Fibre Controllers in the server are each connected to corresponding primary GBIC slot on the disk array.
When running diagnostics in the cstm / mstm utility, the reporting controller reports the following fault:
Controller A
------------
Primary: OK
Expansion: OK
The GBIC on enclosure services controller has lost the link.
The GBIC has been disconnected from the link or failed.
Check the connection or replace the GBIC.
So when running diagnostics on Controller A, the Expansion on A is reported as faulty and Controller B's expansion reports no fault. The same is true vice versa. The expansion slots on the disk enclosure are not connected to either another server or another enclosure. They are not connected to anything.
Is this a problem with the GBIC or an expected error due to the fact neither expansion is connected to anything?
Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
