If I can't log on as the "admin" there is no way to change the password, or the IP address. How can I restore the factory defualt setting and thus the user of "admin" with the default password of "password"?

Solutiontry the root account, maybe you let the default passwd there. If not, lets see the procedure (pretty old firmware, but maybe something similar works also for the 4/32)
ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/san/util/SecureFabric26.pdf. Check also if the backdoor password service is available for the 4/32 at your local HP.

Re: How to set factory default on HP storage works san switch 4/32
no offense meant, but you are creating non-workable links if you append a "." to your URLs.

Re: How to set factory default on HP storage works san switch 4/32
If you have a SAN switch that you do know the password for, then there is a utility on Brocade's website that will let you reset all passwords on switches in a fabric.
Having said that, I've just tried to find it again on http://www.brocadeconnect.com and the recent reorganisation of that site means it's now impossible to find .
It looks like it should be here:
http://community.brocade.com/home/docs/DOC-1290
However the download there points to the wrong file.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: How to set factory default on HP storage works san switch 4/32
- Log on as “root”, with password of “password”
- Type the command ““passwd “admin””
- You will then be prompted to change the password for the user “admin”
- Log on as “admin” with the new password (which is set to the default of “password”)
