HP/Emulex HBA and Linux

I was wondering if I could rebuild one of my old proliant boxes into a Linux server. I know I can, but I am unsure if I can get a supported Emulex driver.

Do you have to use Qlogic with Proliant/Linux?

I guess I am just unfamiliar with supported HBA options for enterprise Linux on proliants.

Example HBA: FCA2101 (Emulex LP950)

What utilities/drivers could I use with RH or Suse on say an ML350 or DL380?

HP has started to support Emulex Fibre Channel adapters a short time ago, again. But those are rather recent adapters (blades + PCI-X/PCIe) and you don't really have multipath support, yet. There is a manual for 'early adopters' of the 'device mapper', though.

Officially FCA2101 is not supported under Linux. Although some guys made it working, this is non-supported config and it lacks multipathing.

Suse Enterprise 10 includes multipathing support for Emulex out-of-the-box.

These cards are supported by the included Emulex driver:

Support: LP11002, LP11000, LP1150, LPe11002, LPe11000, LPe1150, LP1005DC-CM2, LP10000ExDC, LP1050Ex, LP10000DC, LP10000, LP1050DC, LP1050, LP9802DC, LP9802, LP982, LP9402DC, LP9002DC, LP9002L, LP9000, LP952L, LP8000 and LP8000DC

Of course that doesn't mean that HP supports it, but I don't care this is playground stuff that I am talking about... I just want it to work.
