HPUX boot from SAN
I have a new rx7640, with a fresh 11.31 install, a couple ab290-60001 quad cards, connecting thru cicso switches to a HP EVA HSV210.
I am looking for information on setting this configuration up to boot from SAN. I have thourghly seached the forums and have yet to find a document that will help me troubleshoot.
So far i have presented the SAN disk, booted from a DVD and installed HPUX 11.31 on the SAN disk via the installer.
After reboot EFI does not see the SAN disk as a bootable disk.
What step am I missing, or can someone point me to a document/thread that will help me work through this.
I have never configured boot from SAN.
Thanks,
Seth

Re: HPUX boot from SAN
You can "deep scan" the SAN, but normally the installer creates a boot path entry in EFI (this is the complete path to the disk).
Is the entry there? What results do you get while booting?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HPUX boot from SAN
you need set efi driver to rescan all paths. In the efi shell identify driver and cotroller handle by drivers and drvcfg commands:
drivers -> DRV column value = "driver_handle"
drvcfg
then set driver:
drvcfg -s
in the menu set alternate boot to Yes and EFI scan variable to nonzero value:
1 enable alternate boot -> Y
5 EFI scan variable -> !=0
after reboot efi yu can see all paths

Re: HPUX boot from SAN
I was able to get into the drivers screen, but my driver,or the one that i think that i should have, does not show up. At one point(only once and not since reboot) i did see a Qlogic driver but when i tried to configure that i recieved error;
drvcfg: Driver image handle [49] does not support Driver Configuration protocol.
thank again,and any other insight would be greatly appreciated.

Re: HPUX boot from SAN
The link below is for a Boot from SAN document for Linux systems in Itanium platforms. It should give you a lot of help with what your trying to do.
http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00166110/c00166110.pdf
You also might want to update the firmware on your HBA card. There are directions in this document on how to do that as well.
