HS_Service, HSZDisk error detected
Friends and countrymen,
I have been getting a heaping load of errors in the Application event log, sourced from HS_Service, Event ID: 1, Description: HSZ Disk error detected. These errors happen in large doses, sometimes spitting out 10 in a row (all the same time), and sometimes just one.
SecurePath is installed on this server, and it is connected to the SAN for storage.
Any ideas? I pledge my undying love and devotion to whomever can crack the riddle and unleash the sweet, sweet scent of victory.

Re: HS_Service, HSZDisk error detected
Hi Joel,
Looking at the event info. it would appear that your SAN is an EVA3000, running VCS 3025.
If you can, take a look at the Controller Events on the SAN Management Appliance. That will hopefully give you some insight into what the problem might be, although it would appear that there might be a problem with a disk connected to loop port DP-1A.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: HS_Service, HSZDisk error detected
I passed it by the SAN team and was told that everything looks normal and that there are no events on the SAN controller pertaining to this issue.
Unfortunately, I can't look at it myself and have to take their word for it.

Re: HS_Service, HSZDisk error detected
Hi,
It might be that the errors being logged by SecurePath are as a result of recoverable disk events. These do happen from time to time. If there are lots in a short space of time it could be sign of an impending disk failure...
Ask your SAN team again to have a look at the event logs for the EVA, to see if there are any events logged that could be relevant - recovered events get a "Normal" classification so they may have overlooked them.
If all else fails, tell them that they're running an unsupported version of VCS on the EVA (3025), and that HP should be able to identify the problem when they come out to upgrade the array...

Rob
