HSG80 Unit - New Disk Unit Not seen by Server
Have a problem, appreciate any tips. thanks in advance. Pat.
I have created a couple of new units d9 & d10. the state is "not reserved"? What does not reserved mean. All other units are appearing fine.
when i SET D9 enable_access_path= the host, the host doesnt see the unit. these units are on THIS_Cont as are the CONNECTIONS and no zoning on the switch - drivers are up to date on hbas,& reboots etc.
When I run vtpdy, i get a last failure code from 3 months ago, 12010103. go to troubleshooting pdf and this gives me a repair action code of 01 - what action does code require ?
HSG> show d9
Access:
None
State:
ONLINE to this controller
Not reserved
NOPREFERRED_PATH
Size:

Re: HSG80 Unit - New Disk Unit Not seen by Server
do a show d9 and show d10
make sure your host has access to em
run zoneshow on you switches and make sure you really not running any zones.
doe a switchshow and see if you see your wwns ok on the switch.
Check that your hba driver is loaded properly if windows
do a diskscan if windows
on hpux do a ioscan
then do a insf -e
then do ioscan -fnC disk to see if you can now see the new disks.
actually according your show d9 you do not have your disk presented to your host
do a show connections full. If you do not see your hosts wwns. YOu have a hba drive, hba, fiber or san switch problem.
Once you have a connection with the wwns
do a
set D9 enable_access=yourconnectionname
do a show d9 adn the access should not say none, it should show your connection name assigned to your host.
Good luck.

Re: HSG80 Unit - New Disk Unit Not seen by Server
yeah did have the units set to host. i.e. set d9 enable_access_path=server1
Still didnt show in 2k Server, but does save correctly on hsg, (that is Show D9, shows the server1 as listed HOST)
will check to see if the wwns appear on fibre switch, but hba is present in OS with other Units / HDs attached fine.
regarding HPUX, is ioscan the universal for unix / linux hosts to pickup a new connection
thanks again.

Re: HSG80 Unit - New Disk Unit Not seen by Server
If this is a new server that only needs access to unit D9 and an old ACS version that only understands "HP", then you can work around this by setting a unit offset on the connection(s).
