Re: Identifying WWN for HBA

The easiest way is to check it on your san switch.

For brocade the command is 'switchshow'

Of course you need to know which card is connected to which port.

If you are using an HP/Compaq server use the managment agents. http://servername:2301 or https://servermame:2381. Then look under the storage section.

Re: Identifying WWN for HBA

2 other options are, Reboot server and go into the bios of the Qlogic cards it will have the WWN (I believe you will have to do this twice, once for each card) or download SAN Surfer from Qlogic. This is a GUI based tool that allows firmware upgrades etc and will provide WWN's. I have not been able to find a Microsoft provided utiltiy that will give the WWN's.

Re: Identifying WWN for HBA

Your only option from Windows is to use SanSurfer, you can download drom qlogic or HP site.

Re: Identifying WWN for HBA

Hi.

there is a MS utility called "fcinfo.exe" that lives in c:\windows\system32.

It is not installed by default and can be downloaded from :-

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=73d7b879-55b2-4629-8734-b0698096d3b1&DisplayLang=en

The SANSurfer product is really for the QLOGIC cards I think (I'm not sure if it works with Emulex HBA's), but the fcinfo utility is supposed to work with both.

Cheers...
