ISL links.. qty needed determination ?
Hello all..
As part of the configuration of a secound-redundant fabric in our SAN here.. I need some guidence on "How" to determine the proper number of ISL fiber runs to provide between our 2 new HP 32 port San Switch Options ( Brocade 3900 ).. Any help-advice appreciated..
thanks,
George Quist

Re: ISL links.. qty needed determination ?
That really depends on how much data you need to swap between switches, which will also determine if you need to buy the advanced trunking features as well...
For simple SAN implementations...
Rule of thumb, if you have the available ports... then you want a minimum of 2 ISL's between 2 switches. 1 for connectivity, another for redundancy. More than that and your really just wasting ports.
