Re: Legato Networker upgrade
Hi Simon
It might better to target your Legato NetWorker questions to ECM/Legato as to my knowledge HP dont perform NetWorker support.
If this update proceedure is the same as the Windows flavor of NetWorker I imagine its just a simple update but to be honest I have not played at all with the NetWorker on a Unix platform.
You instructions look okay. On the Windows platform you have a partial remove option which leaves the config intact.
I assume your readme that came with your NetWorker hotfix has no instructions!
Sorry cant be of more help.
Ross

Re: Legato Networker upgrade
Uhh, no.
Take a bootstrap backup, stop the services, perform the upgrade, restart the services. This will replace your older version anyway, so there's no need to remove it. Do *NOT* copy the files back, as services are started after install (generally - can't confirm for Linux install) and you don't want to blow away any necessary res file or media DB changes made during the upgrade by copying the older version's files back on top of these again.

A sysadmin should never cross his fingers in the hope commands will work. Makes for a lot of mistakes while typing.

Re: Legato Networker upgrade
Maybe a bit of an sneaky answer but if you want to upgrade Legato uninstall the package and move to Data Protector or CommVault Galaxy.
I've had lots of problems with Legato (not knowledge related because I've worked with Networker for over 6 years) and I've decided to move away from Legato. (Also their prices are skyhigh)
