Migrating SAN Boot disks from XP24K to P6300
Hi,
We are planning to migrate some servers running with SAN attached from XP24K to P6300. Our real concern is How to migrate the BOOT disks which is from SAN
Can anyone let me know the procedure or best practices to Migrate the SAN Boot disk from one storage to another
Thanks
KU

Re: Migrating SAN Boot disks from XP24K to P6300
Hi
as far as I know there is no procedure you have several options
1) you can use RDP (altiris) to do a migration of the disk take an image and create a boot from SAN installation with this image.
2) you can mount both disks to another server physically copy them and then do the boot from san procedure with the new storage
3) there is a hardware tool MPX200 that can do the migration from storage to storage but the licensing is expensive. and you would still have to play with the boot from SAN.
I think your best option is to copy the disk from one storage to the other through a third server and then do boot from SAN to the new storage.
Regards
