Migration.
we are very concerned about the data (800 GB) due to this vcs upgrade.
Our plan is to migrate data from eva3k to msa1000 and than do the upgrade.
need suggestion on how to do the data migration from eva3k to msa1000.

Re: Migration.
If both the msa1000 and eva3k are connected to the servers at the same time, you can consider, straight copy or robocopy from one storage system to another. When the copy is finished you have to cut-over from the eva3k to the msa1000.
If you have to disconnect the eva3k to connect the mas1000 then your backup system is the only option.
In all cases there is downtime involved. The least downtime is in the robocopy method. You can kick off the robocopy ahead of time and when you are ready for the cutover, you can do the last sync-up.

Re: Migration.
I believe that you will also need to upgrade your version of Command View. If I remember correctly that would be min V4.1 for 3.028 or min V5.0 for 3.110.

Re: Migration.
Personally I wouldn't worry about migrating the data.
1. Back up to tape.
2. Verify that you can read the data on the tape.
3. Upgrade the EVA.
If anything goes wrong with the upgrade, then you fall back on your tape copy.
Make sure that you engage HP to do the VCS upgrade. It is possible to do it yourself, but there are lots of interdependancies on the versions of VCS/CV-EVA etc.
Cheers,
Rob
