MSA 1000 Firmware Update Wie? Welches?

Re: MSA 1000 Firmware Update Wie? Welches?
HP biete da diverse Infos an, z.B. Kompatibilitätslisten usw.
Ich hoffe das hilft dir.
Gruà ,
Patrick
PS: Umgangssprache hier ist i.d.R. Englisch. ;)

Re: MSA 1000 Firmware Update Wie? Welches?
You'll find the latest firmware for the MSA1000 on this page:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=415600&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=415598&swLang=8&swEnvOID=1005
5.20 is the latest Active/Passive
7.00 is the latest Active/Active
Note that although that page says MSA1500 the firmware is identical...
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: MSA 1000 Firmware Update Wie? Welches?
normally only one controller is active and is doing the IOs. The second controller is "waiting" that the first controller fails. In an active/active enviroment, both controllers are active and are doing IOs. You can balance the load between the controllers, or can the MSA balance the load. Furthermore you get a higher availability. For an active/active enviroment you need two HBAs in each server, two switches, two controllers in the MSA and two FC IO modules.
Take a look at the SAN Design Reference Guide:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/CoreRedirect.jsp?redirectReason=DocIndexPDF&prodSeriesId=406734&targetPage=http%3A%2F%2Fbizsupport.austin.hp.com%2Fbc%2Fdocs%2Fsupport%2FSupportManual%2Fc00403562%2Fc00403562.pdf

Patrick

Re: MSA 1000 Firmware Update Wie? Welches?
>> What meens Active/Active or Active/Passive
A/A both controllers are active
A/P only 1 ctrl is active, the other is in standby
BUT - with only 1 controller A/A does not make so much sense!
;-)
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSA 1000 Firmware Update Wie? Welches?
this seems to be the latest firmware for the B-Series 2/8 switch:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=315122&prodNameId=315124&swEnvOID=54&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=co-51871-1
Here is the latest A/P firmware for the MSA. It's a MSI packet and you need to install it on a windows server, that can access the MSA over fibre-channel.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=377751&prodNameId=360004&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=co-47103-1
Best regards,
Patrick
