MSA 2324fc RAID 6 - How many drives?
Dont have any experience with this, but here goes. Our MSA is full populated - 24x300GB.
From the SMU I run the provisioning disk wizard and select RAID 6 which shows me:
16x RAID6
4x SPARE
4x AVAIL (greyed out)
Not sure if this is correct?. I had assumed i could add 22 disks to the RAId 6 set. Can anyone explain where I'm going wrong here. Thanks!

Re: MSA 2324fc RAID 6 - How many drives?
Hello,
16 Disks are the maximum count of disks in a RAID 6 vdisk. You should build two 12 disks RAID 6 (no spare), or a 12 and a 11 disks RAID 6 vdisks and use one disks as spare. If you use RAID 50, you can use up to 32 disks in a vdisk.
Regards,
Patrick

Re: MSA 2324fc RAID 6 - How many drives?
I also have a 24 drive 2324. I'm playing with a 24 disk RAID50 setup (3*8).
From a performance standpoint do I loose a lot due to RAID complexity or will the more spindles in the vdisc make up for it?
Any recommendations with 24 discs to get the most performance/space?
