MSA1000 Performace decrease

Hello,
I have an MSA1000 with two MSA30's attached to that. Both controllers are running in an active/active mode with firmware v.7.0. I have 512k cache in both controllers configured for 50% read and 50%write. I have a Win 2003 server running SQL 2000 attached to the MSA. Now what is happening is I have a calculation routine that I run on a single DB at a time and when the SQL MDF and LDF both reside on the MSA the calculation take about 18 minutes to finish. When I move the LDF (transaction log) to the local drive on the server the calculation takes about 1 minute to complete. The calculation is doing constant writing to the LDF when run and only an occational read to the MDF. I also get a 1 minute time when I move both MDF and LDF files to the local disk. When the files reside on the MSA1000 they are on a 12 disk raid 10 with two logical volumes. I have also done this test on one of the MSA30's with a 12 disk raid 6 with two logical volumes. Any help is appreciated and let me know if you need more information. At this point I am at a loss as to why ther is such a slowdown.
