MSA1000 volume problem

I have a msa1000 volume that worked fine in windows 2000. The dba changed the drive letter in windows it was using and rebooted.
The volume came back in windows unaccessable.
The disk management utility in windows sees it as online and healthy but any time I try to access the drive it says "the system cannot find the drive specified" . or in explorer it says h: not available the media is write protetced

any ideas?
