Re: msl5030 and SAN

msl5030 and SAN

Hi
Recently we had conected a MSL5030 direct to HP9000 without problem.
Today we conected a MSL4048 thrught the SAN without problem.
But we can┬┤t connect the MSL5030 by the SAN.
We check the zone and we dont see problem.
cfgShow show us the WWN of the MSL5030 rigth.
ioscan only display information about MSL5030.
I checked the information of the router e1200.
In the interface the FC PORT only display scsi drives but not display any device in the fiber port.

Re: msl5030 and SAN

If you had the MSL5030 directly connected the the HP9000 it was most likely configured as FC-AL (the Fiber port on the e1200) When connected to a switch the port needs to be configured as an N or fabric port. Go into the e1200 and select the correct option for the fiber port and then reboot the e1200.

You should check the name server status on the switch to ensure that the e1200 has successfully loged into the fabric.

Re: msl5030 and SAN

We make change in the port in the Router Type_N, but we have the same problem.
We create other zone with other computers but don├В┬┤t display one.

Re: msl5030 and SAN

What does the FC switch show. Has the e1200 successful logged into switch?

Are you saying you see the e1200 through ioscan on the HP9000?

How about the mapping on e1200? What is the default map? What does it look like?
what map is assigned to the HP9000? What does that map look like?

Re: msl5030 and SAN

Sorry,
ioscan only display information about MSL4048.

MSL5030 in the interface dont display informtion about any server.

Re: msl5030 and SAN

So that mean that the MSL5030 is not connected throught the SAN correctly.

You need to start troubleshooting at the switch. If the switch doesn't see the library nothing else will.

If the library does a successful fabric login then the library WILL so up in the name server list on the switch. If it doesn't then you have a connection issue between the libray and the switch.

1. Is FC cable good, plugged in correctly
2. Does the speed settings match on the library and the Switch port. e.g. 1GB, 2GB
3. Is the switch port enabled? licensed? good GBIC.
4. The library's FC port set for fabric (not FC-AL)
5. The switch port allows N port
