Netware 6.5 MPIO on MSA1000 not using secure path

All,

Does anyone able to get the the Multi-path working on a MSA1000 either using Netware MPIO or Qlogic?

I could not get it to failover automatically when either the controller or switch fail-over.

Here is my configuration:

DL380G4
Dual HBAs - FCA2210
Dual SA controllers on MSA1000
Dual integrated 2/8 SAN switches

Startup.ncf:

set multi-path support=on
load lsimpe.cmd
load ql2300.ham slot=1 /luns /allpaths /portnames
load ql2300.ham slot=2 /luns /allpaths /portnames

Please advice,

Thanks,

Steve

Steve:

Can't say I have much experience with Novel systems, but generically, MPIO is a Windows term which means that it probably would not work with Netware. As for qlogic, I thought it was only available for Linux?

The site has no support for Netware yet. (This does not mean it does not exist).

Do you have a link for this "Netware MPIO" that I(we) can look at?

Re: Netware 6.5 MPIO on MSA1000 not using secure path

Hi Steve,

we had the same configuration with the exception that we used DL580 G2 server as cluster nodes instead. On the MSA1000 we had to change the connection profile for all 4 HBA-Connections from Default to Netware. This solved the problem.

You can do this by connecting to the front side RJ45 plug with the special RJ45 to serial adapter cable that was delivered with the MSA1000. Then you use the CLS ( command line interface) to name the connections and after that you can change the profile for the connections to 'Netware'.

We used Securepath Software (3.0c Workgroup Edition)instead of Netware built-in multi-path support.

Best regards,
Knut

All,

We finally ordered the Secure Path v3.0 for netware and it is working.

Thanks for all the replies.
