NT4 Cluster reinstall to W2k Adv Server (using SecurePath)

Hi

Have
2 x ESA12000 in mutlibus failover
2 x Proliant 6400R clustered (NT4, SQL 7, File/Print) with SecurePath
All firmware latest levels

Want to do a fresh W2k cluster install. I am moving the newly installed servers into another domain.

Looking for any advice/things I might encounter before I get ready to migrate servers. Just normal things for cluster install on SAN from NT4/Win2k with secure path.

I have ruled out a rolling upgrade.

My main steps for the cluster installation are:

1. Full Backup (verified). ftedit for copy of disk sigantures. Stop cluster service, copy quorum to alternate drive
2. Remove mirrored OS disk on both nodes (for backout). Insert new disk and wait for rebuild
3. Move all resources to node 2
4. System Erase node 1. Remove fibre cables to SAN and rebuild in other W2k domain with SS 5.5, Win2k Adv Svr with SP4 (without cluster service). Add Supportpack 6.40A. Install ACS 8.7. Check HBA reg settings
5. Install latest SecurePath. Shut down node 1 and node 2.
5. Power on node 1 with fibre cables attached. Check to see SAN disk. Edit drive letters as appropiate.
6. Install Cluster service. Run cluster.exe script to add back resources
7. Repeat steps above as for second node.
8. Install SQL 7.0 as per
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;219264&sd=tech

Backout
Shut down both nodes, remove both disks and insert mirrored disk, booting off NT4 with cluster service stopped. Insert 2nd disk to recreate mirror.
Copy/Restore quorum and restart cluster service

If anyone can add/edit to improve would be most appreciated

thanks

Craig

Hi,

Not sure if you've already checked these, but here's a couple of white papers you might find helpful.

These are from the "Information Center" of the main ProLiant clustering web site at:
