/opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java

I´ve a system running under HP_UX 11.11 and there is a process started by root which is called /opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java -DHAGT=1 -cp classes/jcore. After reboot and kill -9 the process restarts himself after five minutes.
The process consumes 100% cpu during a short runtime and the nobody can work on the system.

Re: /opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java

That sounds like a process that belongs to the Storage Area Manager (SAM). The group of processes includes a watchdog which would explain the reoccurence.

Ok think it is a commandviewer process but why is the memory consumtion so high. I cant find any reason for this.

Hi Olaf,

I have seen this yet with commandview.
It is no problem to kill this process.
I don't know if you have the latest version of commandview? Otherwise an update is advisable

/opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java - it appears you have host storage agents for either the EVAs, the XP or both.

Please provide output of:

root# swlist|grep -i storagework

The host agents should only be CPU busy on short occasions although I must admit - it can be a resource (memory and cpu) hog.

Re: /opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java

Perhaps you need to patch your java runtime.
Have a look at this page:

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

I have exactly the same problem. HP-UX 11.11, PA-RISC A-Class 440 MHz, Base- and Application Patches 2005-06. VA 7100 RAID-System.

@Nelson: I use StorageWorks CommandView SDM 1.09.00, the newest version.

@Torsten: Patching java makes no sense, because sanmgr uses its own java runtime, as you can see in the first posting of Olaf.

Re: /opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java

Hello all,
I´ve found my own solution. First I´ve checked with hpjconfig the kernel parameters for java using and then implemented the patch PHKL_32927. After this the memory consumtion is normal.

Re: /opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/PA_RISC2.0/java

@Elmar:

To patch the java env is recommended in the commandview userguide (see link above to get the patches) and *will* be helpful.

BTW, the latest version is 1.09.01.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
