Performance considerations for MSA2312FC in dual-domain setup
Hello,
I have a question about the following setup: MSA2312FC, dual controllers, redundant paths to hosts, 11 x 2TB 7.2K dual-port SAS drives.
My original plan was to setup a single VDISK as a RAID-10 with 10 drives and a hot spare.
I then came across the "MSA2000 Best Practices" whitepaper which indicated that the MSA2000 should be setup with at least 2 VDISKS evenly distributed between the 2 controllers. To do that, I would have to setup one VDISK as a RAID-10 with 4 drives and a second VDISK with a RAID-10 with 6 drives. Would this combination yield better performance than a single RAID-10 with 10 drives? Does having dual-port drives make a difference?
Thanks!
