Problem upgrading MSA1000 firmware
Dear all
I am currently attempting to update the firmware of the MSA1000 from v2.38 to v4.48 in order to support VMWare ESX server 3. However, I am having problem with the MSA flash firmware tool.
I can see the MSA1000 in the SCSI device list of the tool, but in the flash firmware page, I cannot find any MSA device.
I am connecting to this MSA1000 from a DL580 G2 server via Fibre. The EMULEX card shows up as SCSI4 on the device list, which is the same as the MSA1000.
Has anyone experienced any issues with the upgrade?
Many thanks!

Re: Problem upgrading MSA1000 firmware
Do you have luns on the host from the MSA?
If you can start with an early update and move up after that.

Re: Problem upgrading MSA1000 firmware
Hi James
Thanks for your reply!
I managed to get it to work thru trial and error, I swapped the back fibre connection modules around and the firmware update just worked without a hassle!
Not sure why that is the case though, would anyone be able to explain? Since I am a newbie in SAN.
