Re: process to upgrade Brocade 4100 silkworm SAN switch firmware from 5.2.1b
Use the "firmwareshow" command to make sure the new release has been stored on both partitions.
swd77:admin> firmwareshow
Primary partition: v4.4.0b
Secondary Partition: v4.4.0b

SolutionYour san switch should be in n/w
There should be an ftp Server, and copy the switch firmware to that server.
admin > firmwaredownload
This will take you through the complete process. The command will ask you,
1. Server IP
2. User name
3. Firmware file name (full path/*.plist)
4. Protocol (ftp/rshd)-- Select ftp
5. password
admin > firmwaredownloadstatus
>> To show whether the last firmware download was succesful.
Admin> firmwareshow
>> To show the firmware level
Admin > firmwarecommit
>> This comnd is to make the changes permenantly. This command to be exicute only if you are selecting "No" while "firmwaredownload" prompt you for firmware commit.
Go through the attached doc for more understanding of firmware upgrade.
