pvcreate write IO errors
Gurus-
I have two separate paths. (thru 6795As). Both accessing the same devices/luns.
I can see all my devices down either path no problem. One path will allow me to both read and write.
The path I am having issues with will not allow writes. The hardware paths below exist in Ioscan and are in
/etc/lvmtab associated with the correct VG.
Can anyone tell me what this error indicates and how I might rectify ?
Thanx in advance
fhp018a-root:/root> pvcreate -f /dev/rdsk/c12t3d1
pvcreate: writing LVM record: I/O error
hp018a-root:/root> pvcreate -f /dev/rdsk/c12t0d2
pvcreate: writing LVM record: I/O error
fhp018a-root:/root> uptime
8:59pm up 2 days, 5:15, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

Re: pvcreate write IO errors
What storage array are you using?
On the EVA and HSG, one controller is owning a virtual disk / unit at a time (like the VA), but the non-owning controller does not re-route the I/O over an internal interconnect.
The other path is visible so that the multipath software (Secure Path) knows which paths it can fail over.
