ql2300 : The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\ql23003

Hi:

We manage a hugh environment full of Blade servers. Some of them have this kind of error:

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\ql23003.

on Event viewer (ID: 11, system log);

Nowadays this is not a problem 'cause we don´t see any related impact but we will like to avoid this kind of errors. I have see them on various models so it's not a problem of the product itself. This is related to the HBA's QLOGIC but we upgraded our platform to lastest PSP versions without success. Any idea?

Kind Regards,

The driver is reporting an error on the fiber channel path, not neccesarily on the FC card.
Check switch ports for framing errors and that the zoning is insolating hosts, storage systems and operating systems the right way.

Ok we will review that kind of things and let you know. Is there a interesting tool to be able to troubleshoot this fine, or that can help us in our error search?

Yes, MPIO / Securepath is most common used on the managed environments. Thanks

We have the worst case with SecurePath. I paste the error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: ql2300
Event Category: None

Date: 1/22/2008
Time: 3:27:23 AM
