RA4100 documentation/information

I acquired a used RA4100 unit with the I/O card in it (not fibre controller) which I want to use. I can't find any documentation or user guide for this F2 unit nor how to connect and configure it to a server. I would like information specifically to differentate Ux/Fx/RHO 4100 models. Thanks.

Hi,

you seem to have a ProLiant Storage System F2. These are old SCSI shelves, running at Fast Wide SCSI-2 speeds. No fibre channel capability.
Here's the only quickspec I could find on it:

The U-series were similar, but could run at UltraWide SCSI-3 speeds. I think they just used different SCSI I/O cards. They both had a Recovery Server Option (RSO), which allowed you to hook up a 2nd Proliant server, set to be in RSO mode, then if your primary server failed, you pressed a key on the Recovery server, and it would switch over to allow the 2nd server to use the disks.

The RA4000 was a similar sized disk shelf, but had a Fibre-Channel I/O card. I'm not sure if the I/O cards were interchangeable. The RA4100 was a replacement for that, which could use the newer universal drive carrier. It could take Ultra2/Ultra3 disk drives, but still ran at UltraWide speeds.

Regards,
Stephen
