RA4100 migration NT 4 volume set to W2K
We migrated a server running NT 4.0 and using a volume set, spanned over 2 RA4100's to a W2K server. We just exchanged the local drives in the 360 DL with W2K disks and after booting we saw in DiskManager 2 formatet partitions. We could not see the volume set and there was no way to create a volume set with the 2 formatet partitions.
The way how we solved it, was to delete the partitions, migrate the disk to dynamic disk, create a new Volume Set, format with NTFS and restored the data from tape.
Is there another way to access the volume set directly or is it possible only with a unstripped NTFS partition?
If we have to install a new copy of W2K will we still have access in the future or we need always to recreate the volume set and restore the data, or is it working if the same level of OS is in use?
