Again, be careful with names!

RAID0 is not RAID1 is not RAID0+1!

For any "mirrored" config you need an even number of drives.
Did you already read the document posted earlier?

RAID 0 => 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ... n disks
RAID 1 => 2 disks
RAID 1+0 => 4, 6, 8, ... even number of disks
RAID 5 => 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... n disks
RAID 6 => 4, 5, 6, 7, 8... n disks

Whilst I agree with you, HP doesn't always say the same thing. On a SmartArray controller (and therefore presumably an MSA1000/1500) RAID 1+0 is also used to refer to a mirror of 2 disks.
