Re: Does MPIO on Linux supports EMC disk arrays?
but upon formatting it, it always shows incorrect LUN size.
can i know whether HP MPIO is compatible with EMC disk arrays?currently the server is installed with HP MPIO with EVA LUNs presented without any problem.
or how should we rectify the above problem?

Re: Re: Does MPIO on Linux supports EMC disk arrays?
For the EMC solutions you need powerpath

Re: Re: Does MPIO on Linux supports EMC disk arrays?
I think you mean Linux's own Multipathing software, which has nothing to do with HP's MPIO.
We tried a few months ago to get it working with SLES 10 and EMC Clariion CX700, but it had problems with the passive paths. So we gave up and used other arrays in our SAN (HDS)
Make sure you're not trying to format the DGC RAID5 LUNZ devices.
Otherwise, you can google for more info, or use PowerPath, or goto EMC Powerlink and ask in their support forum.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: Re: Does MPIO on Linux supports EMC disk arrays?
"MPIO" refers mainly to Windows multipath software and is more of a generic term usable by different storage vendors. Each storage vendor has to create their own Device Specific Module to package with the MS supplied MPIO drivers. MPIO could theoretically work with ANY storage array (EMC, IBM, EVA, XP, MSA, HDS, etc) as long as there is a DSM created for it.
As Stephen suggests, you might be confusing mpio with qlogic multipath driver support. If so, then adding powerpath theoretically should not interfere with access to your EVA.
