Regarding Server free backup
I have a MSA 1000 with embedded MSA SAN Switch. 2 dl 380 Server and 1 HP MSL 6030 Tape library with NSR is connected to this SAN switch. We want to do a Server free backup. The backup s/w used is CA Arcserv 11.1. While doing the same its giving error. As per CA technical support, through the SAN switch you should be able to see and access the drives in the disk array if these drives have LUN # assigned to it. We have created 3 LUNS with RAID5 and we are able to access them from our Server.
We dont have any zoning in SAN switch. As per HP also something need to be done in SAN switch.they are not telling what it is. i read through SAN switch guide and not able to find any helpfull information. Please help.I know you guys can help as always.
Thanks in Advance.

Re: Regarding Server free backup
I.e. zone together each host-facing port on a switch with appropriate storage-array-facing port. Then zone tape-library-facing port with all storage-array-facing ports.
It should work.
Rgds.

Thanks for your time.Do you think zoning will solve. The 2 Server are in cluster and they need to access same LUNS accross.

Re: Regarding Server free backup
Basic question: where is your CA backup server installed?

Re: Regarding Server free backup
As per CA our h/w is supported. This is what a CA specialist ask from me:
"After consulting with the SAN specialist here, according to them, through the SAN switch you should be able to see and access the drives in the disk array if these drives have LUN # assigned to it."
Thanks for your time and help buddy.
