removal of failed virtual disks from EVA5K after failed raid0 disk

removal of failed virtual disks from EVA5K after failed raid0 disk

We've just had a failure of a physical disk which was part of a RAID 0 virtual disk group. It was for restore testing, don't worry.
The failure caused an error on controller A (single loop). We restarted controller A, then the fun starts.

Long story short the disk couldn't be ungrouped. The disk was pulled and replaced. Now there is a virtual disk group and virtual disks with the dreaded big X. I can't unpresent the disks and I can't delete them.

How do I delete the virtual disks and disk group?
Thanks
Michael.

Hi,

restart Management Appliance. Failed disk should disappear and you should be able to continue.

Normally these are problems with the command view eva. You can restart the SMA or you can restart the command view services.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: removal of failed virtual disks from EVA5K after failed raid0 disk

Hi Mike & Ivan,
Thanks for the reply. The failed physical disks had already been removed during a reboot of the SMA. So that part is already done.

The disks I'm having problems with are virtual disks which were presented to a host. The disk are unable to be presented or unpresented and there isn't anyway of deleting them through the Command View Gui. I've even tried deleting the virtual disk group but there's no way that works without deleting the contents of the older first.

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael.
