remove historical WWNs from Command View

Hi,

when our EVA5000 went in, we used a test server to present disks to. This test server is currently turned off, and will probably be used again, but not for a while as the project it is meant for is on hold at the moment.

The server is not connected into the fabric in any way, but if you add a new host in Command View, you can still see the WWNs of this test server. The WWNs do not show up on the switches anywhere.

I need to remove these WWNs from Command View, but have not yet found a way to do so. Does anyone know how to do this?

We're running Command View EVA 3.10.

Cheers,

Adam

Re: remove historical WWNs from Command View

We had a discussion about this sometime ago. Somebody reported from his contact with HP that the only way to get rid of this is to initialize the cell. It sounded like engineering did not see any need for a user to drop them.

Re: remove historical WWNs from Command View

thanks for the info. Seems a bit strange. What happens if your fibre card dies and you put a new one in? You're left with duff entries in Command View.

Never mind. At least I know about it.

Adam,
I fully agree with you. Feel free to give feedback to HP - it is nothing new that engineers are somtimes a bit, ahem, disconnected from reality. Without feedback they might never know something essentially is missing.

Re: remove historical WWNs from Command View

Have you restarted your EVA since removing the server? If your have WWID's in the drop down (I assume that is what you mean), then they will usually go away after a restart, if they are not part of a host definition.

I JUST confirmed this yesterday while working on an EVA5000 with vcs 3.014. It could be in the code too. What is your VCS?

Re: remove historical WWNs from Command View

Hi,

I just restarted the EVA this morning, and it got rid of the duff entries. Which is good, but not an ideal way to do it really. Maybe it will be fixed in 3020.

For info, I'm running 3.010 code.

Cheers,

Re: remove historical WWNs from Command View

Unfortunatelly, I believe that is the only way currently. It might change in 3.020 or later, but I have not seen much info on the new vcs except for forum posts.
