Removing Grouped Disks

I need to add 8 FATA drives but only have 6 available slots in an EVA5000. I'd like to remove two 72gb fibre channel drives, is this possible yet still keep parity.
Also, Id like to install the fata drives veritcally, and by removing two slot below the 6 empty slots, those are members of RSS ID: 14. So if RSS ID 14 only has 6 fibre channel drives, will it keep parity? (The 8 new fata drives will be in its own disk group to store logging)

Re: Removing Grouped Disks

The EVA tries to keep 8 disks in an RSS. The last two RSS can be from 6 to 11 disks. So you are OK.
If you now remove one drive out of RSS 14 you go below 6; the EVA will adjust that by moving disk from the second last RSS to 14.
If you want to maintain the RSS allocation and can afford to power down the EVA you can do the following:
Power down the EVA
Move the 72GB disks in the location you want them
power up; the EVA will find the drives

Then you can install the FATA drives like you want them!

If you cannot afford to power down, you can ungroup one 72GB drive at a time by Command View, move the disk it to the new location and include it back into the disk group.
The EVA will maintain parity and RSS.
